STV to utilise Gigya to enhance consumers online experience

Tagged in: Press Releases
STV has announced it will be the first UK broadcaster to implement Gigya's social infrastructure technology on stv.tv, making the site completely social, and helping to form deeper relationships with existing consumers.

With Gigya, stv.tv will be able to leverage a comprehensive range of social plugins that are designed to seamlessly work together, allowing users to easily engage with content and each other. Gigya’s technology is already being used by leading online sites such as independent.co.uk and futureplc.com, and is used by nine out of ten major broadcast and media companies in America.

STV will utilise Gigya's social login; registration-as-a-service; comments; live chat; share; gamification; and activity feed tools to enable users to login and register on stv.tv using their identities from social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Once consumers log in, they will be able to interact with content and with each other using their social identities and seamlessly share content with their social networks.

Gigya will be integrated across stv.tv in early 2013.

Steven Walker, director of corporate development said: “Responding to user demands to connect their content consumption with their online social experience is inevitable and to meet this demand we are delighted to be teaming up with Gigya, whose expertise in this area will enable us to satisfy our customers needs.”

Brad Evans, Gigya's director of sales, Europe, said: "As a leading UK broadcaster, STV publishes a wide array of valuable content to its viewers. By implementing Gigya's full suite of social infrastructure technology, STV will be able to fully engage its users, drive site traffic and reach its users like never before."
