STV Glasgow asks Glaswegians to 'Gies a Shout'

Tagged in: Press Releases

STV has launched a commercial campaign to engage Glasgow businesses with the city’s new TV channel, STV Glasgow.

The ‘Gies a shout’ campaign, designed by STV Creative, is fully integrated across all platforms from Friday 22nd until Monday 25th August and will include spot ads on STV West and STV Glasgow plus a digital site takeover. The campaign will be supported by direct mail and an incentivised referral campaign.

Featuring much-loved Glasgow landmarks including the Duke of Wellington statue and The People’s Palace, the campaign speaks to Glasgow businesses with the message ‘There’s a better way to advertise your business in Glasgow now’. The campaign even gives businesses across the city the chance to win a free, all singing, all dancing channel takeover campaign on STV Glasgow by simply texting ‘Shout’ to 87654.

‘Gies a shout’ also extends to experiential activity on the STV Glasgow bus and social media channel. The STV Glasgow bus will be on Buchannan Street and at Braehead Shopping Centre throughout the weekend of 23-24 August and will be on the road visiting businesses across Glasgow from Monday 25th to Thursday 28th. The campaign will also be driven across STV social media channels @STVCommercial, @STVGlasgow and @WeAreSTV with an online central campaign hub at stvcommercial.tv/giesashout.

STV’s commercial director Peter Reilly said, “The new channel reflects the city of Glasgow and has had a successful launch with viewing figures in the first month reaching a quarter of the potential audience. The opportunities that this presents for businesses in and around the city are abundant. STV Glasgow enhances the media offering in Scotland and what better way to attract attention in Glasgow than to use a familiar Glaswegian term and some of our most popular landmarks to engage with business across the city.”

STV Glasgow reached an audience of 572,000 viewers in the first month on air with almost 30% of all viewers within the transmission area tuning in at least once. STV Glasgow is truly multi-platform with viewers watching on TV, via live streaming and catch-up on The STV Player, while also being complemented by the STV Glasgow App which engages with consumers across the city.
