Tagged in: Press Releases
STV Fight Night returns to the city channels later this month as STV invests in more live sport.

The first fight in the 2016-2017 season will be broadcast live from Glasgow on Thursday 29th September, including the final eliminator fight for the British Welterweight title between Iron Mike Towell from Dundee and Dale Evans from Wales.

Grant Quigley from Port Glasgow and Sam Ball from Greenock are also on the bill for Thursday 29th September with opponents to be confirmed.

The programme will be presented by Peter Martin, joined by former Commonwealth super-featherweight champion Ian McLeod, and broadcast live from the Radisson Blu hotel in Glasgow.

Paul Hughes, channel editor for STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh, said: “The first live boxing match that aired on the city channels in March was a knock out success. The city channels are designed to give local sport a platform and this is a great opportunity to raise the profile of boxing while delivering popular live sport to our viewers.”

STV’s city channels broadcast the first live boxing match in March 2016.

The next STV Fight Night will be broadcast on STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh at 9pm on Thursday 29th September. Boxing fans across Scotland and the rest of the UK can watch the fight live on the STV Player.
