Crime drama drives viewers to STV Player

Brand new and classic gritty tales of murder have fuelled the growth of the STV Player in 2019, with all of the best-watched online drama being crime related. 
Views are up by almost a quarter year on year as more people are watching more content for longer on the STV Player, with STV’s menu of crime in particular holding huge appeal for viewers.
As the most popular commercial broadcaster Video on Demand (BVOD) player in Scotland, viewers can access both the STV broadcast schedule alongside over 1300 hours of programming from the STV archive and newly acquired material.
The top 5 best watched dramas on the STV Player and STV were brand new crime dramas: Deep Water (starring Anna Friel), The Bay (Morven Christie), A Confession (Martin Freeman), Cheat (Katherine Kelly) and Manhunt (Martin Clunes).
Additionally, the most streamed dramas from the STV Player’s rich archive were from the crime genre.  These included old favourites Taggart and Rebus and recently added Australian legal dramas Janet King and Rake.
This appetite bodes well for the 2020 schedule, which is full of nail-biting drama, including police drama, Bancroft, on New Year’s day and six part true crime drama, White House Farm, starting 8 January – both of which will be available on the STV Player.
