Women working together to help drive the Scottish economy

Tagged in: Press Releases
Business Women Scotland (BWS) and broadcaster STV have forged a dynamic partnership to strengthen female-led businesses.

The wide-ranging agreement will encourage greater collaboration, increase representation of women business leaders in Scotland, drive business growth through knowledge sharing and profile opportunities, and in turn help boost the local economy.

This new partnership sees BWS – one of the largest communities in the country for female entrepreneurs - work closely with the broadcaster to offer a number of growth opportunities for members.  These include:
  • STV’s commitment to providing £20k gifted airtime from the STV Growth Fund to one winner of the BWS Awards 2020;
  • Collaboration on events, such as the BWS online Growth Programme, Virtual Business Roadshow, STV Growth Academy, and a dedicated STV-led knowledge sharing session for BWS members;
  • Danielle Kelly, STV’s Strategic Development Director – who runs the Growth Fund – will join BWS Mentoring Programme;
  • Cross-promotion across online, email marketing and social channels.
  • TV advertising opportunities.
Business Women Scotland founder, Lynne Kennedy MBE, said: “Business Women Scotland is a community dedicated to helping women find support and networking opportunities to allow them to strengthen their business, achieve their goals, build business relationships and provide a platform for learning and developing. By working with STV, we will be putting female entrepreneurs firmly in the spotlight to showcase their contribution to the economy and celebrate their achievements.

Danielle Kelly, STV’s Strategic Development Director, said: “We’re thrilled to be working closely with Business Women Scotland, who share our steadfast commitment to supporting Scottish businesses and encouraging growth – which is critical, now more than ever.  Through this partnership, together we’ll help empower female business leaders, build even stronger networks and provide unrivalled profile for the businesswomen working hard to drive their own enterprises and, in turn, Scotland’s economy.”

STV is committed to driving the Scottish economy by championing Scottish SMEs, providing a platform to grow their business and build their brand on TV.  STV has an unrivalled connection with consumers, reaching at least 87% of all Scots every month.  STV’s successful Growth Fund has recently been doubled to £20m investment to boost SMEs as we emerge from lockdown.

STV is committed to ensuring that every colleague is valued and equal to one another.  As part of a wide-reaching diversity and inclusion action plan, STV is making progress towards a target for gender equality across the top 25% of roles by earnings by 2023.
