Driving Scotland’s future creative economy

STV has confirmed investment in a new bursary scheme for Scottish students.  Working in partnership with the Royal Television Society, STV will offer 10 students from Scottish universities annual bursary funding of £1,000 for the duration of their degree, along with a comprehensive programme of work placements and mentoring opportunities at STV.  STV will also work closely with RTS Scotland to offer a wider programme of activities for students, including networking opportunities and industry insight sessions.  The support will help participants establish a network of industry contacts and gain a fuller insight into the range of career opportunities available within the creative industries.
 
Applications for the bursary scheme will be accepted until 30th June 2019. The scheme is open to students starting their course in 2019, as well as those who began their degree in 2018.  To apply please visit the RTS website https://rts.org.uk/education-training/rts-bursaries.

  • Senior Software Engineer (Glasgow)

    Closing date: 23 August 2019

    The world of media streaming is fast-paced and constantly changing, and STV is determined to lead the way with our new digital strategy. Our development teams are working to transform our video streaming service, STV Player, into a world-class platform. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be working within cross-functional teams in STV Digital, delivering the back-end services that power the STV Player video streaming platform. You will own the services you work on from cradle to grave - helping product management and engineering leadership define the requirements and architecture, through to supporting the services running in production.

  • Automation Tester (Glasgow)

    Closing date: 19 August 2019

    We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Automation Tester to support the development of our digital products and platforms. Working in a fast paced, collaborative environment you will primarily be responsible for ensuring core functionality is automated across our supported platforms. You will be heavily involved in the creation of automated test scripts, their execution and contribute to overall continuous improvement within the QA team. You will also be involved in manual testing when required across STV’s multiple digital platforms including iOS & Android apps, web & connected TVs.

  • Full Stack Developer, STV News (Glasgow)

    STV is looking for a software developer to maintain and enhance a new website for STV News using WordPress and other proven technologies.The role requires detailed knowledge of the tools and workflows inherent in effectively managing a product of this scale and importance. The successful candidate will have the experience and temperament to confidently control all aspects of the development process - from environments and test to performance and day-to-day management.

  • Software Tester (Glasgow)

    Closing date: 22 August 2019

    We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Software Tester to support the development of our digital products and platforms. Working in a fast paced, collaborative environment you will primarily be responsible for ensuring all ‘hands-on’ testing activity is undertaken within our scrum team. You will be able to work well on your own and also be happy to assist the Lead Tester when required and contribute to overall continuous improvement within the team. You will be involved in development testing across STV’s multiple digital platforms including mobile, web, connected TVs & set-top boxes.

  • Modern Apprentice, Accounting (12 month) (Glasgow)

    Closing date: 19 August 2019

    We have an exciting opportunity for a Modern Apprentice to join us over the 2019/2020 academic year and complete an Apprenticeship in Accounting. Working as part of the Broadcast division finance team, you will be involved in accounting for areas such as News, Current Affairs, Marketing, Creative, Insights, Broadcast Operations, Post Production, Legal and our on air programming. In conjunction with an accredited learning provider, this is an initial 12 month Modern Apprenticeship (MA) programme offering many opportunities for career and skills development. Learning will be further developed through a combination of workplace visits and short training courses, this will entail core units such as bookkeeping transactions & controls, elements of costing, final accounts preparation and indirect tax.

  • Technical Stores Coordinator (Glasgow)

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Stores Coordinator to join STV. This role will be responsible for overseeing the property and resources in the STV Technical Support team. The successful applicant will be an integral member of the team and will provide engineering stores and administrative support services to the STV Broadcast Technology Department and wider business.

  • Modern Apprentice, STV News (Glasgow)

    STV is committed to supporting and creating opportunities for future talent in the creative industries, capable of creating and delivering the highest quality content from Scotland. Following three successful programmes in recent years, we are delighted to confirm the opportunity to complete a Modern Apprenticeship in Creative Digital Media over the 2019/2020 academic year, in conjunction with Glasgow Clyde College.This is a one year Modern Apprenticeship (MA) programme offering many opportunities for career and skills development. The MA willl rotate between our Broadcast and Digital news teams, supporting research and publishing activities.As well as working full time at STV, learning will be further developed through a combination of workplace visits and short training courses delivered by Glasgow Clyde College, entailing core units such as presenting ideas and information to others in Creative Industries, working with digital media, recording audio on location and in the studio and writing for online distribution.

  • Management Accountant (Glasgow)

    The STV Broadcast Division is looking for a Management Accountant to join the team in our Glasgow office reporting to the Finance Business Partner. The main purpose of this role is to provide financial reporting and analysis support for the Broadcast Division.
