Head of Communications

Location: Glasgow

The Role:

• Develop and implement a dynamic communications strategy to support achievement of STV’s growth plan;
• Proactively anticipate business needs and design and implement robust and innovative communications and PR plans;
• Liaise with a wide range of external stakeholders, including consumers and audience; press and media; investors; commercial partners; government and regulators; and trade and industry bodies;
• Manage press and media relations;
• Drafting of communications materials, including briefing notes; market and investor communications; regulatory and government submissions; press releases and media responses;
• Provide communications advice and support to STV’s corporate social responsibility commitments, including STV’s two charities: the STV Children’s Appeal and the Scottish Children’s Lottery;
• Involvement in corporate events and ad hoc brand and marketing initiatives, including organising events and developing stakeholder engagement programmes

Skills & Experience:

The ideal candidate will:

• Be an experienced communications professional with a track record of operating at a senior level;
• Hold extensive media relations experience;
• Have a track record of involvement in public affairs, ideally in a regulated environment;
• Be experienced in issues management;
• Have experience of investor relations/financial PR;
• Be experienced in managing a small team and being a mentor who encourages development;
• Possess strong communication and relationship building skills.
