This Saturday, STV news presenter Andrea Brymer will take to the dance floor and show off her best moves at the STV Appeal Dance Marathon in Aberdeen to help raise money for children affected by poverty in Scotland.
The 12-hour dance extravaganza kicks off in the Aberdeen Sports Village on Saturday 24 August followed by another day-long event at Hilton Glasgow on Sunday 25 August, with a host of celebrities strutting their stuff for charity.
In Aberdeen, Andrea will be joined by comedian Bruce Devlin, while the Glasgow event will see top moves from Coronation Street and Taggart star John Michie, presenter Carol Smillie, River City’s Stephen Purdon, and comedians Des McLean and Edward Reid.
Local dance companies from all over Scotland will take turns to join the celebrities for three hour stints, with more than 850 dancers signed up to dance with the stars so far. With instructors teaching a different dance style every hour, including Bollywood, Flashdance, Thriller and Gangnam style, it’s set to be a toe tapping, foot flicking, hip hopping and energy fuelled event.
STV’s cameras will be at both events to film for a special STV Appeal programme later this year.
Andrea Brymer said: “You can’t keep me off a dance floor and I can’t wait to take part in the Dance Marathon for the STV Appeal. I’m not quite sure how energetic my moves will be after the full 12 hours, but I’m going to give it my best shot! It’s such a worthwhile cause and I’ll be doing my best to keep everyone’s spirits up and help raise as much as we possibly can. Get the glitter ball ready!”
Elizabeth Partyka of the STV Appeal said: “We have had a fantastic response to this year’s Dance Marathons in Glasgow and Aberdeen, and we can’t wait to welcome stars and dancers from all over Scotland to join in, dance their socks off and help raise money for an incredibly important cause.”
There are still a few spaces left so for a chance to join in the fun and dance with the stars for STV Appeal, please email or call 01698 459966 for more information on how to get involved.
