STV Productions is developing another Erin Kelly novel for TV audiences following the success of two-part drama The Poison Tree for ITV.
The Burning Air, Kelly’s third novel, is a complex psychological thriller with a killer twist that reaffirms Kelly as one of Britain's most accomplished and masterful storytellers.
STV Productions’ drama team has enlisted Simon Burke to develop the novel as a three-part thriller. Burke’s previous television work includes adaptations of the novels Persuasion, Zen and White Teeth.
Author Erin Kelly is currently working on the novelisation of the drama Broadchurch, with the series creator, Chris Chibnall.
STV Drama is also developing award-winning Australian sitcom Laid for ITV2.
Margaret Enefer, head of drama for STV Productions, said: “This is a great opportunity to bring another of Erin Kelly’s novel to life with the help of Simon Burke. The Burning Air has received fantastic reviews as a novel and we look forward to translating it into another great piece of television drama. We are also excited to be working with ITV2 and Jonathan Harvey on Laid. STV Productions optioned the rights to the sitcom and these two programmes demonstrate the diverse range of STV Drama projects currently in development.”
