War time drama returns to STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh this month with new Polish series 1920. War and Love to air from Friday 28th October at 2100.
Following on from the success of Polish drama Czas Honoru, the new, 13-part subtitled series follows one of the most important periods in the history of Central Europe – the struggle for an independent Poland.
1920. War and Love begins in Central Europe in the summer of 1918, the final days of World War I. Vladek, Joseph and Bronek, three Poles serving their obligatory time in the armies of the three aggressors of Poland - Prussia, Austria, and Russia – and who have been fighting each other in the last days of the WWI, escape from the frontline. They meet by chance on their way back to their homeland, and together continue the journey that will lead them to a newly formed Poland. On their long way to a free country, they encounter not only hostile ambushes and political upheavals, but also the loves of their lives.
Elizabeth Partyka, deputy director of channels at STV, said: “STV’s city TV channels are committed to broadcasting non-English speaking content as part of a distinctive schedule that includes quality acquisitions. 1920. War and Love offers an insight into a fascinating period in post WWI history, and following the popularity of Czas Honoru we are confident that this series will become a must-watch for drama fans.”
