The STV Children’s Appeal 2019 has raised £2,561,732 for children and young people living in poverty in Scotland. Presenter Lorraine Kelly announced the incredible fundraising total at the annual STV Children’s Appeal live show on Friday 4 October.
This takes the total amount that the charity has raised since launching in 2011 to more than £21 million.
Lorraine, who is a trustee of the STV Children’s Appeal, said:  "We’ve had a fantastic year of fundraising, where the people of Scotland have once again gone the extra mile to raise money for what is an excellent cause.  Our live show was the perfect way to celebrate the efforts and generosity of everyone involved – from kiltwalks, big breakfasts and dance competitions, it’s been a hugely busy year. The incredible amount raised will make such a difference to children and young people affected by poverty across the country and the fact the people of Scotland have donated over £21m since launch, makes me so proud to be part of it all.”
The studio roofs were raised as fundraisers, charities, corporate partners and a host of children from across the country were welcomed to STV studios to celebrate the mammoth 2019 campaign. Presenting the show live from Glasgow, Lorraine was joined by presenter Emma Cameron and weatherman Sean Batty, with live links to Andrea Brymer, Lynne Rankin and Nicola McAlley in Aberdeen.
This year’s Appeal campaign has seen a host of fantastic fundraising feats, all helping to support Scotland’s children.  Loose Women’s Kaye Adams, 2018 Love Island finalist Laura Anderson and Sean Batty raised thousands by playing Celebrity Catchphrase with Stephen Mulhern; 100s of STV staff clocked up the miles on Kiltwalks across the country; and the Big Scottish Breakfast saw hungry Scots everywhere raising cash whilst popping toast.
Since launch, the Appeal has now raised more than £21 million. The charity was launched in 2011 by The Hunter Foundation and STV. In 2013, The Wood Foundation pledged its support to the Appeal for projects in the North East. The Scottish Government has match funded the first £1m raised every year since launch.
The live show is available on the STV Player.
