Driving Scotland’s future creative economy

STV has confirmed investment in a new bursary scheme for Scottish students.  Working in partnership with the Royal Television Society, STV will offer 10 students from Scottish universities annual bursary funding of £1,000 for the duration of their degree, along with a comprehensive programme of work placements and mentoring opportunities at STV.  STV will also work closely with RTS Scotland to offer a wider programme of activities for students, including networking opportunities and industry insight sessions.  The support will help participants establish a network of industry contacts and gain a fuller insight into the range of career opportunities available within the creative industries.
 
Applications for the bursary scheme will be accepted until 30th June 2019. The scheme is open to students starting their course in 2019, as well as those who began their degree in 2018.  To apply please visit the RTS website https://rts.org.uk/education-training/rts-bursaries.

  • Senior Software Engineer (Glasgow)

    Closing date: 13 September 2019

    The world of media streaming is fast-paced and constantly changing, and STV is determined to lead the way with our new digital strategy. Our development teams are working to transform our video streaming service, STV Player, into a world-class platform. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be working within cross-functional teams in STV Digital, delivering the back-end services that power the STV Player video streaming platform. You will own the services you work on from cradle to grave - helping product management and engineering leadership define the requirements and architecture, through to supporting the services running in production.

  • Automation Tester (Glasgow)

    Closing date: 13 September 2019

    We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Automation Tester to support the development of our digital products and platforms. Working in a fast paced, collaborative environment you will primarily be responsible for ensuring core functionality is automated across our supported platforms. You will be heavily involved in the creation of automated test scripts, their execution and contribute to overall continuous improvement within the QA team. You will also be involved in manual testing when required across STV’s multiple digital platforms including iOS & Android apps, web & connected TVs.

  • Software Tester (Glasgow)

    We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Software Tester to support the development of our digital products and platforms. Working in a fast paced, collaborative environment you will primarily be responsible for ensuring all ‘hands-on’ testing activity is undertaken within our scrum team. You will be able to work well on your own and also be happy to assist the Lead Tester when required and contribute to overall continuous improvement within the team. You will be involved in development testing across STV’s multiple digital platforms including mobile, web, connected TVs & set-top boxes.

  • Software Engineer (mid level) (Glasgow)

    As a Back End Developer you will be working within cross-functional teams in STV Digital, delivering the back-end services that power the STV Player video streaming platform. The Player is going through a period of rapid growth, so it’s really important to craft scalable and resilient services that meet the growing demand on the streaming service.

  • Assistant Producer (Glasgow)

    The News Gathering and Planning team is the key driver in delivering trusted, accessible and engaging news that meets the needs of our audiences on television and online. Our team of Assistant Producers will support forward planning, next day and on-the-day editorial development and operational needs to ensure STV News bring the best news coverage to Scotland, across broadcast, digital and social. The role advertised is based in Glasgow, but will work closely with news teams across the country. For on-the-day and next day planning we need journalists who can multitask, stay calm under pressure, can spot and react to stories and have strong editorial judgement. You also have the ability to take the lead in pushing the story forward. For longer term planning you will need to be thorough and able to develop memorable and high impact stories with elements that make the output suitable for audiences on all platforms.
