STV Productions TV film, Elizabeth is Missing, has this week received industry plaudits, winning both a CAMEO and a Broadcasting Press Guild award.
Elizabeth is Missing, adapted from Emma Healey’s best-selling novel and broadcast on BBC One in December, stars Glenda Jackson who made her return to TV after a break of 27 years. The film combines a gripping mystery with a tender yet unflinching exploration of one woman’s struggle with dementia.
The adaptation by screenwriter Andrea Gibb has picked up the Book to TV award at this week’s London Book Fair in the Creativity Across Media: Entertainment and Originality Awards (CAMEOs) with judges being “very moved by the incredibly strong adapted script and compelling performances”.
At the 46th annual Broadcasting Press Guild Awards lunch held in London on Friday 13th March Glenda Jackson collected the Best Actress Award. The film also received a nomination in the best single drama/mini-series category. The BPG Awards – given for work commissioned or premiered in the UK and screened in 2019 – are highly prized by programme-makers because they are selected independently by TV and radio correspondents, critics and previewers.
