STV Productions’ drama, Elizabeth is Missing, will make its debut in the USA in January 2021, where it will launch the 50th Anniversary Season of MASTERPIECE on PBS.  The announcement was made to the prestigious Television Critics Association today (Wednesday 29 July).

The BAFTA nominated production is an adaptation of the best-selling novel by Emma Healey and portrays a woman in the grip of dementia, trying to solve the disappearance of her missing friend.  Two time Academy Award winner Glenda Jackson makes a triumphant return to the screen after 27 years, in the film’s leading role, a performance for which she is nominated in the leading actress category at this Friday’s BAFTA Awards.  The drama is also shortlisted in the Single Drama category.

We’re thrilled that Elizabeth is Missing will lead off our 50th anniversary year,” says MASTERPIECE executive producer Susanne Simpson. “MASTERPIECE has been home to some of the best British dramas of our time and a showcase for British ‘acting royalty’ such as Glenda Jackson.”

Sarah Brown, Creative Director, Drama, at STV Productions said: “We are so excited that Elizabeth is Missing will have its US premiere on MASTERPIECE. The reaction to the film in the UK has been overwhelming, and we hope that the MASTERPIECE audience is equally affected by it.”

Elizabeth is Missing will air on MASTERPIECE on Sunday, January 3rd at 9pm ET.

Elizabeth is Missing is co-funded by Sky Studios and international sales are handled by NBCU Global Distribution.
