STV is giving viewers the chance to watch the classic soap opera Take the High Road, from the very beginning on the STV Player.
Viewers can be transported back to the 80s from this weekend (Sunday 26th) and tune into the first five episodes of the show, which were first broadcast 40 years ago. With five new episodes becoming available every Sunday morning – 1517 in total – the escape to the fictional town of Glendarroch will become weekly appointment-to-view television for the foreseeable future.
Viewers across the UK will also be able to tune in on certain devices including iOS, AppleTV, Android, Samsung, Youview, Youview, Chromecast, FireTV, Now TV, Roku & on the web at stv.tv.
Take the High Road began broadcasting on STV in 1980 and was on air until 2003, changing its name to High Road in 1994. Filmed in Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond, the show was one of the channels’ highest rating programmes and has developed something of a cult following.
A launch stage for many Scottish actors, the show featured some fantastic local talent including Alan Cumming (X Men, The Good Wife), James Cosmo (Braveheart, His Dark Materials), Joe McFadden (Holby City, Heartbeat) and Natalie Robb (Emmerdale).
