“As a public service broadcaster, we are 100% committed to providing a trusted news service for our viewers during this hugely uncertain time but the safety of our staff and contributors is paramount. To this end, we’re making some changes to ensure we deliver on both these fronts.
In normal times, we would broadcast regionalised versions of the STV News at Six from four studios across Scotland. But these are not normal times and from this evening, we will broadcast a single news programme and bulletin service. For now, this will be presented and broadcast from Glasgow but may be shifted to one of our other studio centres at any time. In addition, we will broadcast just one episode of current affairs programme, Scotland Tonight, at 7.30pm on Thursday evenings.
News will still be gathered from across the country, in line with Government safety guidelines, and we will have more resource to commit to our digital content due to larger numbers of journalists working at home.
At the heart of this decision is continuing to provide a core news service whilst protecting our staff as far as possible.
