Today, two dramas from STV Productions have been shortlisted in three categories in the Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards and British Academy TV Craft Awards 2020.
• Elizabeth is Missing is nominated in the Single Drama category
• Glenda Jackson is shortlisted in the Leading Actress category for her exceptional performance in Elizabeth is Missing
• Four part drama, The Victim, starring Kelly Macdonald, is nominated in the Mini-Series category
Both Elizabeth is Missing and The Victim were produced and filmed in Scotland for BBC One and were critically acclaimed by UK and international media.
Elizabeth is Missing is based on the best-selling novel by Emma Healey. The film marked Glenda Jackson’s return to the screen after 27 years. She played Maud, a woman whose search for her missing friend Elizabeth takes on a poignant urgency as dementia threatens to erase all the clues. The film was broadcast on BBC One in December 2019 to universal acclaim. Media, audiences and dementia organisations praised its sensitive and authentic portrayal of dementia, with the programme attracting a raft of five star reviews.
In The Victim, Kelly Macdonald played a grieving mother accused of identifying online the man she believes killed her son. This gripping and thought-provoking thriller also received glowing reviews and achieved a peak audience of 7.4m viewers.
